South Carolina's Huntington Island Lighthouse was
originally erected in 1859 and rebuilt in 1879 after being destroyed in the
Civil War. It was deactivated in 1933. At 132 feet high, this cast iron
beacon is open to the to the public for those willing to climb all 167
steps.
